Back in April we published the first of what was promised to be a series of video blogs from director Peter Jackson on the set of The Hobbit. The newest video was released today, and it’s another wonderful ten minutes filled with fun new insights and juicy tidbits. Sit back and enjoy, my precious.
The video starts off with Andy Serkis visiting with Peter Jackson, talking about how on this movie, he isn’t just playing Gollum, but is also the second unit Director. Way to move up in the world, Andy!
Peter explains how for The Hobbit he divided the movie into three blocks, the first of which ended as this vlog was being shot. We get to hear where some of the main characters and crew are going on their holidays during the interim. We then join Peter as he and his team tour the truly epic south island of New Zealand via helicopter for location scouting. They explain some of the details and logistics of the behind-the-scenes work, which I found interesting. I always forget that SO MUCH goes into the making of even a regular movie, let alone a huge-scale film like this one.
There’s mention of the next vlog coming in the not-so-distant future, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled and bring it to you as soon as we can!
